Present Day

The Taunton Model Railway Group (TMRG) recognised that there was a need to allow new and existing members of our group, with the opportunity to learn and improve their modelling skills.  The subject chosen was Bishops Lydeard, as the prototype is right outside our headquarters on Platform 1 on the West Somerset Railway.  The layout is based between 2010 to the present-day capturing features that have appeared and disappeared in recent years.  It also provides us with the scope to operate a wide range of locomotives and rolling stock, all of which has been seen on the West Somerset Railway.

Layout is operated from the rear.  With two positions at each end of the scenic section.  Turntable fiddle yard at the right-hand end when viewed from the front requires 3 ft 6 inch radius to operate.
